James Otermat was raised in Ohio, and decided early on that he and the sun do not get along.
Due to this, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the
University of Toledo. This did nothing to help his social life, but it did keep him indoors during the
daytime.
James then went on to the University of Hull in England to achieve a MSc in Games Programming.
Though there was more walking around during the day, the general cloudy climate of England kept James
and his nemesis, the sun, from interacting too often.
Through extreme luck, he started as a programmer for Archimage in early 2006.
When he is not tied to his computer writing code, James enjoys writing poetry and lyrics,
watching obscure films, listening to music, reading and, of course, playing video games –
most of which can be done inside, far from the harsh brightness of the sun.
He prefers adventure games and comedic films, though he has been known to give other genres a chance.
James dreams of a day when technology will progress far enough for him to have sun-dimming eyes –
and flying cars.
