ARCHIMAGE RELEASES FIRST PHASE OF BAYLORMEDCARE INTRANET PROJECT
HOUSTON, September 18, 2002 -- Today, Archimage launched the first phase corporate Intranet for
BaylorMedCare, the latest
of its growing roster of medical industry clientele. BaylorMedCare, the clinical practice
plan of Baylor College of Medicine consists of over 975 physicians who provide both primary
and specialty medical care. BaylorMedCare is dedicated to excellence in patient care,
patient service and to leadership in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
This project began with what has become an important programming tool in the Archimage bag of
tricks; the "Problem Seeking" approach to design. Although this technique was developed for
the design of buildings, it can be used with equal success for the planning of multimedia
projects, Web sites and Intranets.
The BaylorMedCare project was carefully planned through a series of interactive brainstorming
sessions that involved the following five steps:
- Establish GOALS
- Collect and analyze FACTS
- Uncover and test CONCEPTS
- Determine NEEDS
- State the PROBLEM
The results of this exercise were a phased master plan for the project and a quick launch of
the first phase of the Intranet. The design focuses on the people of Baylor College of
Medicine and wraps the site's content in a fun and engaging package. A sense of community
is created through profiles of the staff in the "Find a Physician" module. "Best Practices"
are highlighted in an information sharing module so that all Baylor staff can share goals,
ideas and customer initiatives.
Future phases will include increased functionality for users and site managers, detailed
insurance plan information, and a Web site for the general public.
